One “Banburyshire” Firm Acquires Another
Long-established Banbury law firm, Hancocks Solicitors (Hancocks), has acquired Cotswold Family Law (CFL) from sole principal, Nichola Gough.
“This is a great fit and I am sure we can grow Nicky’s practice further by offering her clients conveyancing and other services. We are delighted to welcome the experienced and capable Zoe on board, and wish Nicky continued success and look forward to working with her/Cotswold Mediation in the future.”Nicky commented:
“I am confident that Cotswold Family Law’s reputation and clients are in safe hands with Hancocks generally and Ian, in particular, and that the CFL brand will continue to be recognisable for years to come.”Set up in 1985, Hancocks (formerly, the Banbury office of Shipston firm, F B Hancock & Co, which was founded in the 19th Century) is a three partner/four solicitor private client and commercial practice specialising in Family Law, Wills and Probate, Conveyancing, Elderly Client, and Commercial Property for individuals and SMEs in North Oxfordshire and beyond, including London and overseas.
Hancocks has considerable property expertise (collectively, senior partner Michael Barlow, associate Toni Peppard and Andrew have about 80 years’ experience); Michael and Toni do Wills and Probate (Toni also does elderly client and mental capacity work), and Ian does Family Law, of course.
Hancocks is a member of the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme, while Toni is a member of both Solicitors for the Elderly and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and Ian (like Nicky) is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) and also a member of the Law Society Family Law Accreditation Scheme.
Ian’s “matrimonial” practice includes divorce/separation and financial settlements, children and cohabitation issues, pre-nuptial and civil partnership agreements, and injunctions.
Wills and Probate includes trusts and Inheritance Tax planning, and Toni’s elderly client practice includes Lasting Powers of Attorney and “Living Wills” (Advance Decisions and Statements), Deputyships and Court of Protection/Office of the Public Guardian work.
Conveyancing includes, not only residential sales and purchases, but also re-mortgages, equity release schemes, lease extensions and declarations of trust.
And Andrew’s commercial property work also includes agricultural, licensed premises, banking and non-contentious insolvency.
The foundation of its business being repeat instructions and client referrals, Hancocks is proud of its client retention rates; indeed, Hancocks is not in the business of putting its clients anywhere but first.
