Domestic conveyancing

We are very experienced in helping clients through the maze of conveyancing.  We have dealt with a vast number of properties, locally and nationally, and we have considerable experience of dealing with London property (both freehold and leasehold).

We can deal with re-mortgages, lease extensions, equity release schemes, declarations of trust and many other aspects of conveyancing work, and we are a member of the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

Wills and Inheritance Tax planning

Everyone should make a Will to ensure that their money and property go to the right people on their death.  Clients with young children can appoint guardians for them.

With increasing house values, more and more people are feeling the impact of Inheritance Tax.  We can advise on structuring Wills so as to minimise liability and we can help you through other steps that can be taken to ease the burden.

Elderly client

Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) [1] is a national association of lawyers concerned with improving the availability and delivery of specialist legal advice to older and vulnerable people, and their families.

A member of both SFE and the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (STEP), Toni Peppard is experienced in dealing with any mental and/or physical difficulties that accompany the ageing process.  As a result, she has an unusual awareness of the distinctions between certain mental and physical disabilities, and of the social and health problems that may arise with age.  This experience should inspire confidence when resolving your legal issues.

Lasting Powers of Attorney have rendered Living Wills less common. “Living Will” is not a legal term but includes Advance Decisions and Advance Statements.  Advance Decisions deal with the refusal of certain potential medical treatments.  Advance Statements deal with one’s treatment in the event of lost capacity.  Only Advance Decisions are legally binding. We have considerable experience of dealing with these sensitive matters on behalf of clients.

SFE membership requires not only a substantial amount of time working for elderly and vulnerable clients, but also meeting SFE’s high criteria and strict compliance with its code of conduct.  For more information, please see the SFE website or call 0870 0670282.

If you would like to find out more about getting advice for the elderly from us, please email Toni Peppard.

Powers of Attorney

Everyone should consider who will look after their affairs, in the event of incapacity.  We can advise you of the best ways of dealing with this problem, which can often be resolved flexibly and inexpensively.  We can also help in situations where no Power of Attorney is in place.

Deceased persons’ estates

Dealing with such matters can often present a daunting task, especially if Inheritance Tax and trusts are involved.  We have considerable experience in this field and we can either provide the guidance you need, or we can take on the task of dealing with an estate from start to finish, whatever its complexity, to fit your requirements.
